Welcome 2019 With A Crafting Goal

If you are like me, I feel like I have spent more time searching for ideas for organizing and storing my pretty supplies than I actually spend time creating with them.  And I can easily get overwhelmed with all the supplies I have collected once I begin working on a project.  This year, I made a goal for myself to be more mindful of my supplies and future purchases. This led me rethink my crafting style and to explore more options in the techniques I have been using since I am not always using the supplies I have purchased for them.  It is time for a purge!

Set a Goal.   I wanted to use my collection of dies outside of their coordinating stamp sets. As well as to explore new ideas and techniques to freshen up my card making.

Purge and Donate.   I have done this several times over the past 10 years, but this time I did it with my goal in mind. Do not keep supplies with they do not align with the goal. Go through everything, paper stashes, stamps, embellishments and pieces of kits that have not been used in at least two years.  I have donated boxes of cherished supplies to teachers at my school, friends new to the hobby and even the local library for their teen programing. Another consideration is your local senior center or daycare.

Take Inventory and Organize.  Now that I had my basics again, I could focus back to my goal of utilizing my dies with projects around them. I decided to maintain the idea I had started a few months ago and continue using magnetic plates from Taylored Expressions because they were simple for me.  The only thing I did was to label each set from its vendor which allowed me to review each of the dies for future designs.

Learn Something New.  As in clothing and decorating, crafting trends also change over the years too.  This is the perfect time look for online lessons or classes in your area. There are a lot of great professional crafty bloggers sharing their fabulous ideas and techniques.   After reading past posts on Jennifer McGuire Ink, I decided to try one of her sites on-line classes, Stretch your Dies, that matched my goal new goal.

Feel free to leave a suggestion of your New Year's Crafting Goals.  I would love to know what you think.           KIM
